A substitute teacher is accused of being intoxicated while on the job. According to Sanford Police, Holly Joel, who was working as a substitute teacher at Seminole County Public Schools, was allegedly intoxicated while on duty.
Sanford Police released the following statement on Wednesday.
Sanford Police have arrested Holly Joel for Child Neglect, Disorderly Intoxication, and Interfering with School Administration Functions.
On March 8, 2016, the Sanford Police School Resource Officer assigned to Bentley Elementary School, was notified by school staff that a substitute teacher was possibly intoxicated while on duty. Holly Joel, who was employed by Seminole County Public Schools as a substitute teacher, was responsible for the care and supervision of numerous elementary aged students.
Throughout the course of the investigation, it was determined that Holly Joel was under the influence of alcohol and had interfered with the learning environment necessary for education. Holly Joel was arrested and transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
