VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - It is video that you have to see to believe. Up close and personal with one of the ocean's deadliest predators: a great white shark.
"We were super excited, sticking the camera in the water, running around the boat, it was just doing laps around the boat, wanted us to be his friend for the day," said 18-year-old Taylor Magone.
Magone and his friend Wiley still cannot believe they were that close to a great white shark. "There's a slim chance that I'll ever see that again, so I'm just glad I got to see it," Magone said.
They captured the video Sunday afternoon shortly after pulling out for a fishing trip with Taylor's dad at the Dunlawton Causeway. As they arrived at Ponce Inlet, about 30 miles from the shore, they spotted the shark.
"It just swam straight up bee line, right to the boat. When it came out I got my GoPro out and got awesome pictures with it as it swam straight up."
They say the shark circled around their boat for about 20 minutes and they couldn't wait to share the rare shark encounter with everyone else.
