Truck crashes into building in Maitland Tuesday morning

Fox35's Gina Benitez reports on Orlando News Now.

- Early Tuesday morning the driver of a pickup truck crashed into the side of a building in Maitland. Miraculously the driver was uninjured in the accident.

The crash happened on US 17-92 northbound at Spartan Drive in Maitland.  The crash caused some traffic delays during the morning commute as crews had to clean up the scene and investigate.

The truck crashed into the side of the Sewing Studio Fabric Superstore in Maitland. The truck was carrying pool-cleaning supplies. The crash caused multiple chemicals to spill out from the vehicle.

According to Florida Highway Patrol the truck was traveling southbound on US 17-92 when another vehicle changed lanes abruptly directly in front of the truck. The truck then swerved to the left to avoid the vehicle and accelerated to get out of the intersection. From there the truck struck a phone box and pole and overturned and slid on its roof before striking the side of the building.

The driver only suffered minor scrapes and bruises as officials say this case is a prime example of why it is important to wear your seat belt.
