Investigators said Watts is the masked man seen in surveillance video walking into Best Laundromat on N. John Young Parkway in Kissimmee. There, detectives said he pulled a gun on an 18-year-old woman as she was doing her laundry, forced her out the back door, then tried to get her to have sex with him around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday. When things didn’t go according to plan, police said Watts forced the woman into a dumpster and shot her twice in the face.
On Wednesday morning, Kissimmee police officers spread out searching in the direction the suspect was last seen running. “We were canvassing the neighborhood and the detectives saw some blood on a front door and put two and two together,” said Stacie Miller, spokesperson for KPD. She said when the officer knocked on the door Wednesday morning, the men who lived in that home didn’t know why the officer was there. Then on in the afternoon, police said the roommates saw surveillance video on the news. “They recognized the walk,” said Miller, referring to the way the suspect struts. And that’s not all. “The roommates basically said he was wearing my hat, the personon tv that’s my hat , he had it, we were able to put it together after that.”
The roommates called police and told them they believed the guy that was crashing with them, Watts, was the suspect. Police said the time period the roommates gave them matched up with the time of the attack. Investigators said the roommates told them that Watts showed up at their door late Tuesday night, banging on the front door, out of breath and acting strange. “He had gotten into the shower and rinsed himself off, and they heard him getting sick,” said Miller.
Kissimmee Police Arrested Watts late yesterday. Investigators say the victim is still in the hospital recovering, listed in stable condition.
