LEESBURG, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A small child has died following a crash in Leesburg.
The child, a 2-year-old boy, was ejected from an SUV after it was struck by car along U.S. Highway 441 on Tuesday, police said. Upon impact, the SUV traveled across the median and rolled at least once, witnesses told investigators.
A total of eight people were inside the SUV -- three occupants were flown to area hospitals with traumatic injuries while the other four were transported from the crash scene by ambulance. The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed. No other details were immediately known.
Leesburg police are currently investigating, and the intersection is expected to remain closed for an unknown period of time.
