Investigators find crashed plane in Marineland

- A Piper Seminole two-engine airplane was found in a wooded area across from the River to Sea Preserve in Marineland Friday morning.

The plane crashed late Thursday night and deputies and search crews spent hours looking for the plane. Sheriff Rick Staly says he believes two people were on board and he doesn't believe they survived the crash.

Sheriff Staly says it appears the plane hit the tops of trees and crashed. The sheriff's office is waiting on large equipment to remove the debris and identify the victims.

The plane originated at a flight school called 'Sunrise Aviation' in Ormond Beach.

Sheriff Staly says the plane started in Ormond, went to Brunswick, Georgia and was coming back to Ormond when it crashed.
