LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Frost Advisory has been issued for all of Central Florida with Freeze Warnings issued for counties north of the Orlando metropolitan area. Forecast lows for Wednesday into Thursday morning will be in the mid to upper 30s around the city, low to mid 30s out to the west and upper 20s in the Ocala-Gainesville area. There is also a chance for freezing temperatures in Sumter County.
"Mid 30s are forecast along the coastline, so it will be cold enough, but more importantly, calmer tonight, allowing for frost to form," said FOX 35/FOX 51 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Richards.
A frost means you need to cover up the plants for the night. In the freeze zones, be sure to properly manage pool pumps by making sure that they kick on early Thursday morning or will continue to run all night. "Also bring in the pets tonight, wear extra layers tomorrow morning and be careful with the fireplace," added Richards.
A warm up begins on Thursday afternoon and will continue through the weekend. "A big spinning low is pulling down the cold air. It looks like tonight will be the coldest night, then we'll tap into slightly warmer weather out to our west," said Richards.
"Winds will be much, much lighter the next couple of days. This weekend, another re-enforcement of the cool air shows up in latter part of the day on Saturday. The front comes through in the morning -- a dry front -- with a cloud or two with it, then cooler temperatures during the day on Sunday, but all in all this upcoming weekend looks good and mainly dry."
