ORLANDO, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Orlando and Winter Garden Police officers are searching for a man who stole hundreds of dollars in lottery tickets by snatching them away.
Police say a man in a hoodie, is wanted for stealing lottery tickets at several stores, including the Circle K in Winter Garden, a 7-Eleven on OBT and another 7-Eleven on Smith Street in Orlando.
"Some guy came in approached the counter asking about the scratch off ticket," said Nina Viera via phone, who was working as a clerk, when he went inside.
According to officers, it was right before 9pm on January 28th, when he asked for the scratch offs. "He had a debit card in his hand and acted like he was going to swipe the debit card through the machine and the next thing I know he reached across the counter, snatched them out of the my hand and ran out the doors. As he snatched them out of my hand he said thank you and then ran."
Police say he was driving a white four-door Honda. According to Viera, the suspect hid his car behind a dumpster."At first I was just shocked, like did this really just happen?"
Viera says she decided to leave her job because of this. "It violated my personal space. I quit the next week because it's just a little too scary for me."
Police say the suspect has a distinct haircut with short hair all around, with the exception of a round portion near the crown of his head. He also had a very large fake cubic zirconium ring on his right hand.
Customers like Andy Vaughan say it's concerning, "I think he should at least play fair. Any area you're in there's bound to be people not doing the right thing. Doesn't really surprise me. Kind of disappoints me."
