Victim in apparent murder-suicide a beloved youth minister at Longwood church

A man and a woman were both found shot to death just before noon on Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide.

Altamonte Springs police spent the day gathering evidence at a home on Cedarbrook Lane, while neighbors watched.

Detectives on Monday identified the deceased as Brianne Ortt, 37, and Samuel Martin, 40.  Detectives said Ortt and Martin both had gunshot wounds to the head.

Ortt was a youth minister at Sanlando United Methodist Church in Longwood, and when she did not show up for work on Sunday morning, her family became concerned and went to check on her.

Investigators say it appears Martin and Ortt were in a romantic relationship, and they believe Martin shot Ortt and then turned the gun on himself sometime in the early morning hours.

Family said Ortt was widely loved by everyone at the church, especially the children in her youth group.  She has a young son herself and those close to her said she was very active in all aspects of the church.
