Deputies: Firefighter passed school bus with stop signs deployed

- The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Marion County firefighter, who they have identified as the man behind the wheel of an SUV that drove around a stopped school bus, as the stop signs were still deployed.

Shannon Guinther posted this video he took of the incident to Facebook on Thursday.

"There was obviously multiple witnesses, very crisp video.  It wasn't a question of who or what, it was what are you going to do about it?"

FOX 35 brought the footage to the attention of Marion County Sheriff's Office which prompted the investigation.

"Once we became aware of it, we began to notify the district commander in that area at which time the investigation began that we're following up on."

Guinther said the investigators came to his home on Thursday to get a statement from him.

"The Lieutenant called me this morning and informed me whether there may not be much they can do criminally, he is going to ask the State Attorney's Office to issue him a citation based off the evidence."

"At this time, the incident is a civil infraction which usually is a monetary fine."

Marion County Fire Rescue said it is cooperating with this investigation. It is unclear what, if any action will be taken against the firefighter.

"If something had happened with one of those kids, it's gonna be his people --  the firefighters, the EMTs -- that have to respond to that."
