Volusia County corrections officer accused of child molestation

FOX 35 News at 5 p.m.

- A corrections officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution in Volusia County has been arrested, accused of  molesting young girl at an Ormond Beach home daycare several years ago.

David Darin Bugno, 49, of Ormond Beach, is charged with lewd or lascivious molestation.  Bugno and his wife, who ran the daycare, have since divorced and the daycare is no longer in business, a spokesman with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office says.

"Sheriff's investigators were alerted to the case in April 2015, after a girl told her mother about the abuse," said Sheriff's Office spokesman Andrew Gant.  He said the child reported that, "Bugno touched her private parts and showed her pornographic videos."

Investigators are asking anyone who believes they have information about this case or any other victims at Bugno Daycare to contact the Sheriff's Office at 386-254-1537 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
