School placed on lockdown while police search for home invasion suspects

FOX 35 News at 5 p.m.

- Santa Fe High School was placed on lockdown late Wednesday as the Alachua Police Department was investigating a suspected home invasion and robbery along NW 138th Avenue.

Officers first responded to call from the homeowners around 1:30 p.m. who told them that they arrived to find two  people inside the house.  According to police, the suspects tied up the homeowners and one was beaten, receiving non life-threatening injuries.

When the suspects left, they took vehicles belonging to the homeowners.  One of those vehicles has since been located near the high school.

One of the homeowners was transported to the hospital, and now officers are searching the area around the high school for any sign of the suspects.   The lockdown was lifted and students released from school just before 4 p.m.

Anyone with information about this home invasion investigation or the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call the Alachua Police at (386) 462-1396 or Crimestoppers at 352-372-STOP (7867).
