LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Forecasters continue to track an area of showers and thunderstorms over the western Atlantic Ocean, between Bermuda and the Bahamas.
The National Hurricane Center says the system has become somewhat better organized since Wednesday, and the circulation of the low has become a little better defined. Conditions are expected to be conducive for a tropical or subtropical cyclone to form on Friday or Saturday while this system moves west-northwestward or northwestward toward the southeastern United States coast.
"It does look like some intensification and more development is possible," said FOX 35 meteorologist Brooks Tomlin. "Here in Central Florida, the only impact will be some enhanced rip currents and wave actions."

People traveling to Georgia through North Carolina for the Memorial Day weekend should monitor the progress of this low. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the low on Friday afternoon.
