Police: Man tried to bring gun into Magic Kingdom

FOX 35 News at 5 p.m.

- An Arkansas man is out of jail after deputies said he attempted to bring a gun into the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, by pretending he was a police officer.

Kevin Webb, 42, tried getting into the park on Monday, when he was randomly selected to go through the metal detector.

"When he was going through the metal detector, he self admitted he had a firearm on him," said Jeff Williamson, spokesman with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "Obviously, that piqued the interest of security at Disney and us as well."

That's when he told Disney security that he was a law enforcement officer, deputies said.  "He identified himself as a Sherwood Police Officer, from Arkansas," said Williamson.

When a security officer called the Sherwood Police Department in Arkansas, they discovered that Webb actually was fired from the force back in 2013.

"The gentlemen had been terminated a couple of years back for dishonesty and untruthfulness," Williamson added.

Arkansas authorities said he shouldn't have had his credentials.  Investigators then took Webb's firearm and credentials into evidence and arrested him for carrying a concealed firearm and falsely impersonating an officer.

"He broke policy for Disney and broke the law for impersonating a police officer. He had not been a police officer for the past three years, so therefore he was arrested on those two charges," Williamson said.
