Suspects sought in Altamonte Springs Publix shooting

FOX 35 News at 11 p.m.
A person has been shot at a grocery store in Altamonte Springs.  Authorities responded to a Publix at the Palm Springs Crossing, near  the corner of State Road 436 and Palm Springs Drive just after 3:30 p.m.  Investigators said two suspected robbers exchanged gunfire with a Loomis money carrier in the front entrance of the store.  He was about to leave the store with a bag of money that he was hired to carry.
"I heard, 'Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"  explained store customer Bobbi Johnson.  She and her son, Jeremy, were inside when it all went down. "Next thing I see on the ground is the guard, and he's full of blood, he's spiting up blood, and I picked up his gun and I was going to go after the guy, and he held his hand out and made me give his gun back."  Jeremy said, "He was conscious and was like, 'I want to use the phone, I want to call my wife' Blah, blah, blah. I'm like man this is crazy."
The money carrier sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head.   He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.  Three customers were also taken to the hospital, complaining of chest pains.
"That individual was badly hurt but was alert and conscious and able to tell officers what happened," said Lt. Rob Pelton, with the Altamonte Springs Police Department.  Lt. Pelton said the suspects, described as two black males, fled in a stolen, gold-colored Nissan.  That car was later found at the Royal Arms condominium complex not far from the Publix.
Police said one of the suspects was recorded on surveillance video.  The man is seen where a long-sleeved plaid shirt and an orange baseball cap with a purple bill.  "It's very likely they could be harboring in a close by residence or still on foot from that area," Lt. Pelton said.  "We have very good images of you. We will identify you. Turn yourself in before anybody else gets hurt."
There is massive man search underway in the vicinity of the grocery store.  Anyone with information about this shooting or the possible whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
