COCOA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers say jogger Jason Rodeghier was killed in a hit and run accident. The neighbor who found him says he had seen him many times before with his kids at the bus stop.
"I noticed the body, backed up and yelled and dialed 911," explained a man who identified himself only as Tommy.
It was around 7 a.m. on Monday morning when Tommy said he found a body along the side of Satellite Blvd. by Dean Avenue. "I just saw him laying there; someone hit him and knocked him in the ditch."
Troopers say the 39-year-old man was jogging when a driver hit him. They say family members went looking for him when he didn't return home. "Unfortunately, I think his wife pulled up and broken-hearted, it's just a tragedy," Tommy said.
Troopers say the suspect's car is a grey Chrysler, with damage to the front end, possibly to the headlight and turn signal. "We know this is a hit-and-run, based on parts of the vehicle we've located at the scene," said FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes.
Tommy says he is heartbroken over finding the jogger and has a message for the driver. "If you did this you should come forward it will do your conscious good."
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Florida Highway Patrol.
