Deputies: Man stole Girl Scouts cookie cash box

FOX 35 News at 10 p.m.

- Volusia County sheriff’s investigators are looking for a man who stole a money box from a 12-year-old girl who was selling Girl Scout cookies Sunday outside a Deltona Wal-Mart.  The theft happened just before 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon outside the Walmart at 101 Howland Blvd.

A spokesperson with the Sheriff's Office says a white or Hispanic man approached the girl’s table outside the store, grabbed the money box and ran into the parking lot, before climbing into newer-model gray Hyundai Santa Fe. Witnesses said they believed the vehicle had a North Carolina tag.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect approaching the store with a white woman wearing a pink jacket and walking with a small child.

Anyone who recognizes the subjects or has any information about this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS (8477).
