K-9 credited with helping deputies nab suspect

A K-9 with the Marion County Sheriff's Office is credited with helping two deputies track down a suspect.

When the two deputies spotted Roy Harris, 18, behind the wheel of a truck at the area of SE 115th Avenue and SE 132nd Place, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The deputies said they stopped Harris on suspicion that didn't have a valid driver’s license.

They said Harris fled, so they pursued him until he crashed into the a fence near SE 130th Place, causing damage to the property.  Harris then ran on foot, but he was later located by Deputy Branden Donahue and K-9 “Tipster.”

Harris was taken into custody and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He remains in the Marion County Jail on $15,000 bond.
