Marion Co. commissioners vote to let Confederate flag fly again

Less than one week after Marion County officials took down the Confederate flag, commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to put it back up.

After the shooting in Charleston, county leaders decided to take the flag down from the county’s administration building.

It was part of a display that included flags of all the governments, including the British and Spanish, which have one time governed all or part of the state of Florida.

The Marion County Historical Commission has been invited to evaluate whether all the historical markers around the complex are displayed properly.
