ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A man is held in jail on no bond, after a mother chased him down with her gun. Deputies say, he burglarized her home.
Investigators say 22-year-old Angel Ogando was caught on surveillance trying to pull down the security camera. It was just after midnight, when he broke into the garage of an Orlando home, according to authorities, while a mother and her 5-year-old daughter were upstairs.
"I grabbed my gun and went down the stairs and flew the door open and was like, 'Hello!' And nothing. I went upstairs, hit record on the camera, dialed my phone and called 911."
The victim said the thief took off with some items, but then came back and damaged her SUV. "I guess he was beating the side of my car, because he was mad."
Mad that someone was home. This mother says she grabbed her gun again and chased the burglar, shortly after that deputies caught up with Ogando and his accomplice and arrested them. "I just started running downstairs, saying, 'Stop! I got you on camera!'"
The victim said the suspects got away with her tool box and scuba gear, however, deputies were able to get it back for her. She believes a special angel was looking out for her, someone who recently passed away. "My mother was protecting us, for me and my daughter and my home."
Ogando is charged with burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief. During his first appearance, a judge revoked his bond due to previous charges. "Your Honor, he's out on bond for an aggravated assault with a firearm and a domestic violence battery."
Meanwhile, this mom has a message for the suspect and his friend. "Treat people with kindness because what goes around comes around."
