Mother of 3 dies while acting as good Samaritan

A Volusia County mother of three lost her life while trying to save the life of someone else. Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say Tina Martin, 33, was driving Southbound on U.S. Highway 1 in Port Orange when she encountered a motorcyclist that was lying in the middle of the road, after he had lost control and overturned.

Acting as a good Samaritan, troopers say Martin got out of her car to help and was kneeling over the motorcyclist when both of them were hit by a car -- a second car then hit the motorcyclist.  Martin was pronounced dead at the scene along with the 23-year-old motorcyclist.

"Still unbelievable.  Think she's going to come home any minute," said Tina's brother, Josh Boyle. "Every time she see's somebody in need, she goes to help them.  She was always good like that, without even thinking," Boyle said.

Boyle isn't surprised that his younger sister was trying to help someone, he says it's part of who she was.  “She would just jump out and help someone, that who she was, we love her and miss her," Boyle said.

The crash is still under investigation, the motorcyclist who died has been identified at 23-year-old Santiago Alverez.  Family members have established a Go Fund Me page to help cover funeral expenses for Tina Martin.  Click here for more information.
