Ocala deaths investigated as possible murder-suicide

Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff's Office are investigating two deaths in what is believed to be a murder-suicide.

Deputies on Thursday responded to 8747 SW 93rd Place in the On Top Of the World neighborhood, in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found June Jackson, 60, in her neighbor's front lawn.  She had been shot.  and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators identified Clifton Erhardt, 51, as a possible suspect in the shooting.  A Bomb Squad robot entered the home where the disturbance was reported and discovered Erhardt deceased.

A preliminary investigation reveals that Jackson and Erhardt were involved in a dating relationship. The motivation behind the shooting is still being investigated by Major Crimes.  Detectives are still investigating whether or not Erhardt's wound was self-inflicted.

"As of right now, it's looking like this is a murder-suicide. That's the way the evidence is pointing," said Marion County Sheriff Chris Blair.  "Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of these two individuals and with the On Top of the World community."
