Police say a woman ran from a traffic stop, leaving a baby behind inside the car.  Now, authorities are seeking the public's help in locating that woman.

West Melbourne police have identified her as Mandy Logsdon.  After Logsdon was stopped in a red Dodge Caravan on Thursday, an officer discovered she was driving on a suspended license.  As the police officer was writing the ticket, she said Logsdon bolted, jumping over a wall in a parking lot.

The officer approached the vehicle and noticed that there was a baby inside.  Knowing that, the officer remained with the baby and called for assistance.  Authorities searched the area but were unable to locate Logsdon.  Logsdon is not the mother of the baby, they say.

Logsdon is wanted on charges of driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest without violence, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities said they had considered possible charges of felony child neglect but after consulting with the Office of the State Attorney, they are unable to pursue that charge, because an officer remained with the child.

"Although we have received several tips, we have not located Logsdon. We continue to actively search for her and encourage her to turn herself in to answer for her actions," said West Melbourne Police Captain Richard Cordeau.

Anyone with information on Logsdon's whereabouts should call the West Melbourne Police.
