ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35)
A second man has been arrested in connection with a gunfight that left two dead and several others injured at Glitz Ultra Lounge in Orlando earlier this month. Orlando Police on Thursday said 21-year-old Luis Gadiel Cruz Nazario was taken into custody on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder.
Nazario is one of two men investigators say are tied to the shooting. Officers arrested 23-year-old Jose Brull-Lopez last week. On Feb. 7, he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with physical evidence. On his arrest affidavit, Orlando Police asked that he not be granted bond, stating this was an ongoing investigation and they believe him to be a danger to society; however, Brull-Lopez spent less than a 48 hours in jail before getting out on a $5,150 bond. He was re-arrested on charged of shooting into or throwing a deadly missile into a structure, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
"We asked for him to remain in jail and we put in the affidavit why. It's unfortunate that he was let out of jail," said Orlando Police Chief John Mina during a news conference almost a week ago.
According to his arrest affidavit, Brull-Lopez was seen running out of the club with a gun in his hand. Witnesses told officers they saw him throw that gun up on the roof of the club. When officers arrested Brull-Lopez, they say he had a loaded extended magazine in his pocket. At this point, Orlando Police are not saying if Brull-Lopez fired his weapon inside Glitz.
Chief Mina says a total of 10 people were shot; two of the victims, 22-year-old Joseph Villalobos and 33-year-old Jonathan Avila Rojas, died. Police say they were on opposite sides of the fight. The chief says five innocent bystanders were shot. The other three people who were shot, the chief says, were involved in the fight. Of those three, one is still in the hospital in stable condition.
According to investigators, the shootout was gang related.
