VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in DeLeon Springs.

S.W.A.T. members converged on the house at 6105 State Road 11 shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

After clearing the first floor, deputies moved to the second floor where they encountered a man in a bedroom. Investigators say he grabbed a rifle and wouldn't obey commands to put it down. That's when one of the deputies opened fire and shot and killed the man.

The house sits well off the highway on a wooded, remote lot labeled over the driveway as "The Property". The S.W.A.T. deputies were serving a search warrant in connection with a stolen property investigation.

Besides the man who was shot and killed, an adult woman and two children were also in the house. They were unharmed. Deputies are not confirming their ages, identities, or where they were in the house at the time of the shooting.
