ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Orange County Sheriff's deputies said a Pine Hills teenager was leaving church with her parents Sunday evening when she was shot.  Her brother was also hit by a bullet but is expected to recover.

Investigators said Danielle Sampson, 15, was caught in the crossfire of a shootout near Powers Drive and North Lane in Orange County.

Sampson was in the back of her parent's minivan when the shooting happened.  The family had just left their church to go shopping.  Sampson's parents ducked to avoid the bullets.  The teen was struck in the head and was rushed to the hospital, where she remains unresponsive and in critical condition.

The teen attends Apopka High School, loves to play basketball and was very active at her church.  She had her first job this summer at a kids camp and was just days away from beginning her sophomore year.

Orange County sheriff's detectives are trying to figure out who did this too the young girl. Detectives are sure she was not the target of the shooting.

Investigators continue to ask the public for help in locating a charcoal-colored SUV that
was in the area at the time of the shooting. They are also looking for a tan sedan that
may also have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crimeline at 407-423-TIPS (8477).
