The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating an alleged home invasion during which the suspect was shot and killed by the homeowner.
Deputies responded to a 911 call shortly after 11 a.m. Monday morning. The incident happened at a home near the intersection of Clarcona Ocoee Rd. and 10th Ave. in Apopka
The caller, an elderly man, said he shot an intruder who had entered his own wielding a knife.
The sheriff's office says the dead man identified as 41-year-old Luis Angel Rivera. The homeowner said he knew Rivera, adding that the two had actually talked to each other earlier in the day.
"He was told that there was no money," said Capt. Angelo Nieves with the sheriff's office. "the individual continued to advance into the house, armed at that point. That's when the homeowner fired a round, and then fired the second round striking the suspect."
The identity of the homeowner has not been released. Investigators did not say whether the homeowner would face any charges.
