MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for central Brevard County.

At 2:40 p.m., NWS meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Patrick Air Force Base which was moving northeast at 15 mph.

Several FOX 35 viewers captured images of what appear to be a funnel cloud. The images were taken in multiple locations near Patrick AFB, Cocoa and Merritt Island and we have created a gallery to highlight some of the spectacular shots.

No damage was reported and the system quickly moved out over the ocean within 20 to 25 minutes.  A tornado warning, which had been issued minutes earlier, was allowed to expire.
