LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX ORLANDO) -
Longwood resident Elaine Golden on Wednesday woke to find a 300 pound bear on her lanai. It's not the first time the bear has paid a visit.
"I was just taking the first sips of my morning coffee, and I heard it again," said Golden. "I said to my husband, 'I think the bear is here.'"
The bear opened the fridge but was apparently disappointed in the selection of wine, so he walked away.
"After my daughter's wedding, we had a party and he opened fridge. We had a bunch of Coke and Sprites, and we watched him just picking up cans, drinking, then throwing them down," she said. "He bites it, lifts up his head and drinks, and tosses it!"
Since then, the Golden's haven't put food or soda in their fridge, but that hasn't stopped this guy from coming back. They think he's coming from the Wekiva River, not far from their home.
Golden has had to replace the screen to the lanai. six or seven times in her two years living here in the Innswood Community in Longwood, and she's had to keep garbage cans in the garage.
