Danielle Sampson was shot as she rode with her parents in their minivan on North Lane and Powers Drive almost a month ago. She was hit by a stray bullet. The man arrested and charged in shooting was denied bond on Thursday.
Tyrone Mosby, 19, said only a few words as a judge read him the many charges he faces including, two counts of attempted first degree murder. Paperwork released by investigators shed some light on how an innocent girl got caught in the crossfire.
The shooting of Sampson was totally avoidable. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. An arrest affidavit indicates that Mosby and others were in the driveway of a Pine Hills home when the homeowner returned to his house to find the uninvited guests on his property.
Believing his home was being burglarized, Chester Joseph chased after Mosby and the others who fled in a gray SUV. The report said Joseph counted at least 10 shots fired in his direction during the chase. Fearing for his life, he stopped the pursuit.
Sampson remains in critical condition, still unconscious and on a ventilator at Arnold Palmer Hospital.
