Volusia County Beach Safety officers on Wednesday morning apprehended a "person of interest" in an Orange County murder.
Kristofer Gould, 34, was arrested at the Zelda beach approach in Daytona Beach. He was taken into custody on unrelated charges, including overnight camping on the beach, carrying a concealed firearm, and giving law enforcement a false name. He had his first appearance before a judge Wednesday afternoon.
Gould is a person of interest in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Jorgete Acarie.
Gould is the ex-boyfriend of Jorgete and father of her two-year old son, according to the victim's sister. The child was found next his mother's body early Sunday morning, unharmed.
Anyone with information that can help detectives is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
