MELBOURNE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A man who was reportedly wearing "Joker" make-up at a movie theater was arrested by Melbourne Police after it was discovered he had a warrant.
At around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Melbourne Police Department received a call from a concerned citizen who stated they had just observed a man with "Joker" type make-up on his face and dyed pink hair, pacing back and forth in front of, and then entering, the Premiere Theater on W. Hibiscus Blvd. The man was also reported as wearing a leather jacket, jeans and boots.
Melbourne police officers responded to the movie theater and located the man, 21-year-old Christopher Sides, as he was exiting the front doors of the theater. Sides had purchased a ticket to see "The Expendables 2."
"He stated this is how he sometimes dresses and saw no concern with this," said Sgt. Sheridan Shelley with the Melbourne Police Department.
No weapons were found on Sides, or in his car. It turns out, he was just there to see a movie. A warrant search was conducted, and it was discovered that Sides had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on a previous misdemeanor charge.
Sides was taken into custody for the warrant and was to be transported to the Brevard County Jail. According to police officers, Sides made no threats while at the theater and was cooperative with officers while being taken into custody.
