The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is investigating a child abduction that occurred late Wednesday afternoon.
Sumter County deputies responded to CR 230 and CR 205B near Wildwood in reference to a missing 14-year-old girl who never arrived home from school. The missing teen was last seen getting off the school bus at approximately 4:15 p.m. and her backpack was discovered on the road.
Deputies located the missing girl later that evening. She said that when she was getting off the bus, a man pulled up to her at the bus stop in an older model blue mini-van and grabbed
her at knife point, forcing her into the van.
A sketch of the suspect was released on Friday. He is described as a white man, 40-50 years of age, thin build with medium length brown hair, a mustache, and a 2-inch scar on his left chest. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a deer logo on the front and rear of the shirt. The vehicle was described as a 1990s model mini-van, similar to the van at right, medium blue in color with gray cloth interior and a rear bench seat.
