Some bold thieves busted out a side window at the "Family Renew Community" office in DeLand, and stole thousands of dollars worth of stuff set aside for homeless children and their families.
Sherry Morrison says, "They shattered the window, climbed in over my desk , ransacked my office, then ran out through the door that was open. They took both my computer and my secretary's computer."
It wasn't the computers and supplies that really bothers Morrison. She says the thieves took things that were meant for homeless children and their families.
"They took a bicycle, they took a number of DVD players we had for the residents, brand new toys we have for the children for their birthdays and things like that."
They even took toothpaste, tooth brushes and cleaning supplies. They stole gas cards and bus passes to help homeless people get around and find jobs.
"Everything we use to set up the apartments and things for them, a lot of it just disappeared."
This group runs solely on donations from individuals and area churches, as well as state grants, and this burglary has hit them hard. They're hoping to get their stuff back, or good Samaritans will come forward to help.
