Two Daytona Beach brothers are accused of carjacking a woman in Holly Hill then driving her car to rob a bank in Ormond Beach.
Officers say Glenn Neal and his younger brother Alexis Neal were in the Holly Hill Walmart on Nova Rd. when they carjacked a woman at gunpoint as she was putting away her groceries -- allegedly pointing a semi automatic weapon at her then taking her SUV.
Investigators say the older brother, Glenn, then drove up Nova Road and robbed the Bank of America armed with a gun, and taking an undisclosed amount of cash, police say he then took off in the stolen car again down Ridgewood, where an officer was waiting for him with stop sticks.
"He actually aimed that vehicle at the officer in an attempt to strike him, fortunately the officer was able to deploy those sticks, two of the spikes caught one of the tires and it caused the vehicle to go inverted and it rolled approximately five times," said Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker.
The suspect, Glenn Neal was injured during the crash and transported to Halifax Health Center with non life threatening injuries, his brother Alexis Neal was taken to jail. Both brothers face numerous charges including armed carjacking and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The officer who deployed the stop sticks was not injured.
