As Pedro Bravo sits in jail for not helping 18-year old Christian Aguilar get medical attention, his roommate talks with FOX 35, saying he never thought Bravo would ever be involved in a disappearance case.
"I would have never suspected he would have... anything like this would have happened," said Roberto Finale on Wednesday.
Bravo, 18, faces third-degree felony charges in the disappearance of Aguilar, a University of Florida freshman.
According to Finale, Bravo is always on the go, and the night Aguilar vanished, he said his roommate came home but also left in a hurry.
"I heard someone walking up the stairs. It was one set of feet, and I said, 'Hey, how are you doing?' and it was Pedro, and he said, 'Hey, nothing much,'" said Finale. Within minutes, Finale said Bravo was gone, heading back out the door.
Almost a week later, there is still no sign of Aguilar, who moved to Gainesville from Miami this summer. Finale tells FOX 35 investigators have been to the home that he shares with Bravo several times in the past week and took about 20 bags of evidence from Bravo's room.
Police have released a photo of both Aguilar and Bravo at a Best Buy on the evening Aguilar vanished. They said they have recovered the packaging, but not the Kanye West CD, that Aguilar purchased at the electronics store. They are processing that, as well as other evidence they obtained from several search warrants that were executed.
Also on Wednesday, investigators learned Bravo bought duct tape and a shovel days before he and Aguilar got into a fight. Police believe it was over a girl.
Aguilar's father, Carlos, tells FOX 35 that the family is still holding on to hope though the new evidence may not mean much. "We found out information, he got into an accident and the tape may be around the car, used to tape the window," he said. "But the explanation for the shovel, still unknown."
