OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -

A Marion County teenager is in trouble after school officials said he brought a gun and ammunition to school.

The 14-year-old student at North Marion High School told officials he was going on a hunting trip with a buddy Friday afternoon.

The school district's Kevin Christian said a shotgun was found at the school's football bleachers in a duffel bag.  right next to it, a backpack with ammo inside.

"Students were the ones who actually turned the student in that had the gun.  I've always said that kids are the best eyes and ears. They're the best weapon we have to keep weapons off campus, and this case perfectly proves that point," said Christian.

The teen is facing a felony charge of bringing a gun to a school campus and a second teenager was arrested as well.  the student who brought the gun to school won't be returning.  officials said he will either be sent to an alternative school or expelled.
