A black man living in Ormond Beach said he is the target of ahate crime.
InnocentNgwa was touched by flowers left on his door step by neighbors who support him."It really brings me back and comforts me," he said, "because I thought, maybe I was beingan outcast."
Two weeks ago someone left some things that were not so nice outside of hishome -- threatening notes and a box of rotten meat.
Ngwa described the note. "It says, 'Thisneighborhood is not for your type. I just brought a black dog today, just foryou guys, so better think twice.'"
He said the pungent meat was hard to miss. "They left it right here and it stinks. Immediately, when I open the door,it was like shocking."
Then, there was damage to his swimming pool and drain. "Thisis what was brought up from the pool. It looks like a tire that has beengrinded."
OrmondBeach Police are investigating to see who may be targetingInnocent. "It makes me feel like I'm being rejected, make me feel frightenedand scared. This stuff has traumatized me."
Innocent, who's studying to fly drones for the military, plans to move out ofthe Hunters Ridge neighborhood with his wife and child, saying, "We never thought thiswould happen to us."
To the person, or people, behind the harassment, he said, "Weall creatures from God. God is the one that created us, so I don't deserve it."
Innocent said his landlord has been very supportive and will let him out of hislease.
