SeaWorld Orlando returns rescued manatee to St. Johns River

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Followingseven months of rehabilitation at SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld's Animal RescueTeam returned Goodby, an adult male manatee, to Goodby Creek near the St. JohnsRiver near Jacksonville. 

SeaWorld worked with the Florida Fish &Wildlife Conservation Commission to coordinate this morning's return, andSea2Shore alliance was also on site to satellite tag the manatee for futuretracking.  The nearly1,000-pound manatee was rescued due to cold stress in March 2012 from GoodbyCreek, where he got his name. 

This was theeighth manateereturn of 2012. Sincethe program's inception in 1973, SeaWorld has rescued 469 manatees and returned244 back to their natural habitat.
