Suspect in deadly hit and run sought

Posted: Updated:

A hit and run suspect is on the loose, nowhere to be found, after she did not show up for her arraignment in Volusia County this past Wednesday.  Fifty-year-old Danielle Halverson was arrested October 16, charged in the hit and run death of Juliana Hobbs in March.

"My sister was there bleeding, dying in the road and she just left."  Courtney Myers is Juliana's sister. She did attend the court hearing Wednesday and cannot believe Halverson skipped out on it.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office has a warrant for Halverson's arrest for failure to appear in court. The sheriff's office tells us if Halverson is pulled over for anything, she will be arrested but deputies and state troopers are not mounting a large search for her this weekend.

Myers says, "That's not good enough. She is out there able to do this to somebody else and she should be a top priority."

A few days after Hobbs was struck, Halverson told the highway patrol her car might have been involved, but she would not say if she was driving.  The FHP arrested Halverson seven months later, after they had physical evidence and she admitted to investigators she was driving when her car struck Hobbs.

Myers has a message for Halverson.  "Turn yourself in- imagine if it was your family."
