A former Navy SEAL finished a half marathon Saturday -- then met the stranger he credits for saving his life.
Justin Legg embraced Julie McCarthy after crossing the finish line of the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon -- two years after Legg received two lungs from McCarthy's son, Jared, who had been declared brain dead.
McCarthy decided to donate her son's organs. At the time, Legg was fighting leukemia and had fallen into a coma.
Doctors gave him just a short time to live before the transplant that saved his life.
"It was so wonderful to finally meet Julie," Legg said after finishing the 13.1-mile course. "I've been talking to her on the phone over email and Facebook for a long time."
McCarthy said she feels like her son lives on through Legg.
