A man whom authorities say tried to rob a Walgreens pharmacy at gunpoint late Tuesday was shot and wounded by officers waiting for him in the parking lot, Palm Bay Police said.
Just after 11 p.m., someone called police to report seeing a suspect wearing a white mask enter the Walgreens at 1160 Malabar Road. Moments later, several other witnesses called 911 to report that a gunman was holding the pharmacist at gunpoint.
Witnesses say the robber demanded oxycodone from the pharmacist, Fox 35's Holly Bristow reports.
Authorities arrived at the Walgreens while the suspect was still inside.
As he fled, shots were fired, and the gunman was wounded, police say.
No other injuries were reported, and an investigation is ongoing.
