Fugitive N.H. couple accused of abusing boy arrested at Universal Studios

A fugitive New Hampshire couple accused of severely abusing a 3-year-old boy was arrested just after they watched a parade at Universal Studios in Orlando on Wednesday night.

Roland Dow, 27, and Jessica Linscott, 23, face first- and second-degree assault charges in the alleged abuse of Linscott's 3-year-old son.

"They almost killed my grandson," the boy's paternal grandmother, Helen Nicholson, said. "He told me that Roland was hitting him on the head and spanking him."

According to investigators, Linscott dropped her child off at a New Hampshire hospital with a brain injury, massive bruising, a visual impairment and burns. Linscott said the injuries were self-inflicted. Linscott and Dow were missing for more than a week after the child was dropped off at the hospital.

"I find it very sad that these two were located in an area designed to bring joy and happiness to children," U.S. Marshal David L. Cargill Jr. said in a statement.

The boy has undergone two brain surgeries and is beginning to regain his eyesight, according to Nicholson.

The child's father, Jonathan Nicholson, died 3 months after his son was born.

The couple was taken into custody without incident, according to U.S. Marshals. "They were pretty calm, pretty cool, no fuss," Deputy U.S. Marshal David Charles said.

Dow is charged with first- and second-degree felony child abuse. Linscott is facing six counts of endangering a child. It is unclear whether the couple will face any additional charges.

Linscott and Dow were booked into the Orange County Jail, where they are being held pending their arraignment on fugitive-from-justice charges.
