Leesburg car dealership shuttered after drug raid

Posted: Updated:

A used car dealership has been closed after the owner was arrested after an alleged drug deal took place inside the building.

Late Wednesday afternoon, you could still see broken glass by a door at PGE Auto Sales.  Lake County Deputies raided the dealership after getting a tip about an alleged drug deal.

The owner, 21-year-old Patrick Elagha and 6 others were arrested.  Deputies said they used the dealership for a drug transaction, purchasing 1 kilogram of cocaine and 35 pounds of marijuana.

"I just noticed this morning when we come into work, wow they're low on their vehicles and I would see that some times and the next day we would come in and the parking lot would be full of vehicles," Karen Redman works a couple of doors down from the dealership.  "So I figured they were just buying up what they would need."

Deputies seized a dozen vehicles as well as $60,000 from the building.  Redmen tells us all the employees at the dealership were good neighbors.

"Had no idea, had no idea. We mind our business and they did too and they were all friendly and courteous."

Redman explained how another business in the area was raided a couple of years ago, saying, "They seem to be cracking down more in this area on the drug trafficking."
