Christmas Trees stolen from DeLand tree lot

DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Graham Blunt has been selling Christmas Trees in the spot in DeLand for 15 years.
He's passionate about the trees and making Christmas special for area families, which is why he was floored when he showed up to work Wednesday and noticed four trees were missing.

"Thieves come in all shapes and colors and steal all sorts of things I guess," he said.  "I came in, in the morning, and the fence had been torn down."

Nearly $300 worth of trees were stolen from the Four Seasons Christmas Tree lot.  The thieves cut the zip ties holding the fence up, pushed it down then walked away with several different types of trees.  Despite the loss, Blunt is keeping his spirits up.

"I guess somebody's pretty hard up.  Hopefully, they didn't take them to sell.  Hopefully they took them because they really needed them, but if they come and ask us, we could work with them as best we could."

Police have increased patrols in this area off U.S. Highway 17/92.
