MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Marion County Sheriff's deputies responded to 5 Juniper Trail Course around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, in reference to a domestic disturbance.
When deputies approached the house, they said a man, identified as 50-year-old Richard Braccia, began shooting at deputies and a patrol car. Braccia then retreated inside the house.
A woman involved in the domestic situation was able to flee the house safely. No deputies were injured in the shooting.
The Sheriff's Office SWAT and Negotiations teams responded and were ultimately able to talk Braccia into coming out safely. He was arrested and charged with domestic battery, 2 counts of attempted homicide on a law enforcement officer and felony criminal mischief.
