Ricardo Chang was last seen Monday evening at the Central Florida Behavioral Center on Central Florida Parkway in Orlando.
The boy's mother, Jorgete Acarie, was found shot to death in her bed in her Dr. Phillips-area home. Her 2-year-old son was found next to her body but was unharmed. Investigators think Acarie's ex-boyfriend, Kristofer Gould, the father of the 2-year-old, is involved in Acarie's killing.
Police say Ricardo's father released a statement Tuesday calling for his safe return.
Ricardo is 5-feet-5 and 120 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and was last seen wearing jeans and a blue shirt.
Authorities say Ricardo has suffered emotional issues and are concerned for his well-being. Anyone with information on his location is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
