A "high end EF-1 tornado" ripped through an Edgewater mobile home park early Monday evening, damaging about 40 homes, the National Weather Service in Melbourne has confirmed.Forecasters made the determination today after further research and a damage survey.The tornado struck at about 5:30 p.m. with estimated winds of 95 to 110 mph, the weather service said. Its path was approximately a mile, with a width of about 150 yards.The tornado's damage was centered at Terra Mar Village and Jones Fish Camp Road. About 40 homes were damaged; some had roofs torn off. Power lines were downed and trees uprooted.Allison Staley told Fox 35's Valerie Boey her husband was inside their mobile home when the tornado struck."He said a big oak tree came through our front living room and missed him and my dog by inches. He's lucky to be alive."Forecasters will issue a final update later today.
