Edgewater police chief placed on administrative leave

EDGEWATER, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Edgewater Police Chief Dave Arcieri has been suspended from his duties and was placed on paid leave on Thursday.

FOX 35 spoke with Arcieri Thursday afternoon.  He told us he was abruptly escorted out of the office on Thursday by the City Manager Tracey Barlow, who notified him that he would be placed on administrative leave, with pay, until further notice.  He said he has no idea why he was suspended and referred us to his attorney, Michael Politis.

"Someone has authored some sort of allegations," said Politis who added, "at this point, we are just going to respect the process."

Politis said the city is within its rights to suspend the chief without giving him a reason, as long as it is with pay.

Arcieri has been instructed not to visit any police department facilities or make contact with any current or former police staff.

Arcieri is a 19-year veteran of the force and has served as chief of police since 2011.
