Jeff Ashton, the former Casey Anthony prosecutor, was sworn in to his new job as state attorney overnight.
Ashton was sworn in as the new Orange-Osceola County state attorney just after midnight today.
Ashton defeated his old boss, Lawson Lamar, in the November election. Lamar had served for 24 years, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Ashton prosecuted Casey Anthony during her murder trial for the death of her daughter, Caylee. He retired just days after Anthony was found not guilty in 2011.
